Kolekt can help informal collectors (waste pickers) organise themselves into an association or a cooperative. This will allow members to earn EPR fees or an extra bonus per KG from sponsors or receive a payout from the sale of Kolekt Certificates. Your new association can then purchase the waste pickers’ recyclables, tracing it with Kolekt App. By being an entity it can issue invoices to buyers of recyclables. The Kolekt App transactions and invoices are the proof needed to apply for EPR subsidies from PROs or to issue Kolekt Certificates which can be sold to Producer companies and brands. We can support in the splitting of payments to members, as well as capacity building around worker health, insurance, savings, financial literacy and much more.

Step 1 / 2-3 months
Cooperative Setup
Prepare the Coop establishment incl management and member vote. Registration, Tax ID, Bank account, training sessions. Organise the buy-sort-sale functions and associated bookkeeping and payments.
Step 2 / 1-2 months
Traceability
Training to use Kolekt App to register materials entering and leaving the aggregator (coop); and the use of Kolekt Pay to confirm (cash) payments. Use of the dashboard and reporting tools.
Once working we will introduce the Points system for bonus payments.
Step 3 / 1 month
Certificates
Once all purchase, sale and disposal transactions are registered consistently, we assit with the issuance of Kolekt Certificates. This includes an audit of the Coop’s bookkeeping, transaction registration and impact claims.
