The app's simplicity has been achieved by removing unnecessary texts and features. Where possible the app is icon and map based.  

When there is no internet connection the user is able to post offers and requests and view items that we viewed prior to going offline.

KOLEKT makes it possible for app users to buy & sell from people without a smartphone. An account is created so that they too can earn money.

Users receive points when selling towards a recycler. They can convert these points for cash.

User roles & materials

User Roles:

  • The app is built so that actors in the whole collection and recycling value chain can find materials on offer or requested near them. Each user has a role in the waste collection value chain. 

  • The USER ROLES are: waste picker, waste buyer & sorter, waste sorter / baler, waste shredder, transportation, recycler, exporter, importer, waste generator (home, school, apartment, restaurant, shops, hotels, office).

  • All users can buy & sell waste materials, except waste generators who can only offer or sell materials, and recyclers who can only request or buy materials.

  • Materials: 

    • Plastics (9 types), Paper & Carton (5 types), Tetra Pak cartons, Metals (4 types),  Rubber (6 types), E-Waste, Glass, Medical waste, Biomass (5 types), Foam/Slippers (4 types), Other;

  • Material Condition: 

    • Shredded, Sorted, Clean, Baled, Bagged, Mixed, Contaminated.

Marketplace (home screen)

This is the home screen of the KOLEKT app.

From top to bottom:

  • Address bar allows all offers & requests of materials to be sorted by distance from the user.

  • Notifications are shown when bids come in from potential buyers or sellers in the app. Bidding in the app works like an auction, the highest bidder comes on top (buying) or lowest offerer (selling).

  • Points, history & cash bar is a summary of the points, sales, KGs and cash out system.

  • Material filtering tiles (the coloured tiles) are used for quick filtering of the materials that are posted most in the app.

  • Offer & Requests Listing: these are posts placed of materials offered or sought. They can be shown as a list or in Map view. This is fully integrated with Google maps and by default sorts by distance.

Sell & Buy (and ... photo notes)

Sell: users can Offer materials for sale with an expiry date on the offer. Or they can "sell now" when they are selling face-to-face to a buyer. All sales have a weight, price/kg, photo, location and in the case of an offer sellers can set an expiry date and delivery conditions & locations.  Interested buyers can 'bid' on the offer which enables a chat feature to negotiate a price and pickup location. Bidding works like an auction, with the highest bidder on top. 

Buy: users can Request materials to buy with an expiry date on the request. Or they can "buy now" when they are buying face-to-face from a seller. All requests/purchases have a weight, price/kg, photo, location and in the case of an request buyers can set an expiry date and delivery conditions & locations. Interested sellers can 'bid' to deliver which then enables a chat feature to negotiate a price and delivery location. Bidding works like an auction, with the lowest bidder on top. 

Photo note: is a one-click feature for waste pickers or collectors, to take a photo of materials that they have found but not picked up, registering the materials' location, so they can pick it up later.

Dashboard, data and certification features

For Businesses, Projects or Licensees we can create a subset of the data related to your geographical location, subset of user types and/or materials recovered and recycled.

All requests of purchases are visible and downloadable as excel files or viewable in a map view.  

This includes:

Seller (id), buyer (id), Material, sub-material, material state, weight, price, time of sale, gps location of sale, photos of the materials, mode of delivery, bids made on the offer and expiry date.

This allows you to trace the origin and destination of materials.

Data viewing can be configured for any business, project manager or licensee to be shown in their dashboard by geographical area (by country & Km radius), materials or specific users like recyclers, collection centers, etc.

Map views are available for all data lists such as users, offers/sales, requests/purchases or payment transactions.

Certification

KOLEKT allows full traceability of waste along the whole supply chain and the mapping of all stakeholders involved in the process. It records data in a format that allows for more efficient montirong, validation, verification and certification of waste recovery and recycling against the following standards:

  • Plastic Waste Reduction Standard (Verra)

  • Circular Credit Mechanism (BVRio)

  • Ocean Bound Plastic certification

  • Brazilian Solid Waste legislation (PNRS)
